Thank you!
I feel like short of making it free to play and having a complete art style rework this game doesn't have great hopes of ever being relevant. I mean from what I've gathered the gameplay itself is decent to good. But yeah they just misfired so hard with this.
Despite it all, I feel bad for the majority of devs who spent so much of their life working on this and who are likely going to be out of a job. Of course I don't know anything about the inner workings, but I'd be willing to bet it's not most of their fault's that sony had been pushing so hard for live service stuff under their former leadership
While I agree having more options is always a better thing, I really can't see body type A and B with pronouns choosing anything other than more inclusive, a good thing, and not something that deserves getting up in arms about.
I don't really see how it could be seen as not more inclusive. Sure it's not more inclusive than having full blown sliders that let you change every bit of a character's body, but it's adding more pronouns and not forcing those pronouns on a certain body type. If we look at number of options, it is more than the previous "male and female" options. Thus including a broader set of people
Lol I was just about to post this. Yeah this is a decision for sure. Wouldn't be surprised if this causes another big spike in Lemmy usage
I'm not a massive IGN hater but yikes. This is consolidation I don't want to see.... I like Eurogamer a lot, I hope they don't change much
I agree it shouldn't be the ESA's responsibility. However as it says in the article:
In 2023, the Video Game History Foundation revealed 87 percent of games released pre-2010 were currently not preserved in any capacity. Attempts previously made by the Library of Congress were halted by the ESA, which said it'd rely on publishers to take care of those efforts themselves.
So the ESA have made themselves the problem by halting such attempts
I mean, the EEOC is literally suing them. Not sure what part you don't believe. If you don't believe that stuff actually happened there, did you read to the end of the article? It's not the first time they've been accused of this
I mean personally I wouldn't want to game like that on my phone, as it will almost certainly kill the battery and I need my phone for.... well phone things.
But I don't really see why it being $60 is at all weird. It's a $60 AAA game everywhere else too. Same game as it is there.
Edit: and it also unlocks the game on m1 or newer iPads and macOS devices... really not seeing why this is so egregious. It's $60 on steam too
I would just like to throw my voice out there as a mod on the instance.
I truly love beehaw, and will likely stay if this move happened. Beehaw was an amazing place to find after everything happened with reddit. And I love participating here and really like the community I've found here
All that being said. I would be extremely saddened and disappointed if beehaw decided to leave the fediverse. I am fully aware of how some off instance users can behave. It is definitely a problem, especially in some more vulnerable communities. However I also feel like the ability to federate has brought some life to the platform that would be sorely missed.
I would very much hope a white list would be considered before leaving the fediverse entirely.
Ultimately, I know this is not my project. And I have no decision making powers, but I think lemmy would be a much worse place without beehaw. I hope this decision does not come to pass, personally
It's depressing how much progress has seemingly fallen apart before my eyes. I know some things are generally better than the have been. But these attacks are exhausting
Thank you! 😁
