What genre do you usually enjoy? Anime is only an art form.

You can't go wrong with ghibli. Spirited away, Howl's moving castle, princess mononoke are all good films.

Also "Your Name" is great

[-] znatgd@ani.social 2 points 11 months ago

UPDATE: Your Name was a 100/10... thank you

[-] znatgd@ani.social 2 points 11 months ago

Another update: I... love... Spirited Away. 10/10

And now that you mention Ghibli, i did some research and it seems i HAVE watched anime when i was younger. The ghibli ones tho. Whisper of the Heart was my favourite... thanks for your recommendations...

Im not really bound by any genre... anything enjoyable is great with me, thanks a lot for the suggestions too

Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood was everyone's go to recommendation for a long time, and for good reason. With more info on what you like, we can give more tailored recommendations.

[-] popekingjoe@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

Yeah that's always been the one I've recommended to people who have never watched anime. It's a perfect blend of action, interesting story, great characters, funny moments, and it's not sexualized.

[-] znatgd@ani.social 2 points 1 year ago

Alright, ill take your word for it :)

[-] znatgd@ani.social 2 points 1 year ago

FMAB: 9 / 10. Its too good... thank you so much...

[-] znatgd@ani.social 1 points 1 year ago

SHOWS Frieren, Full metal alchemist, Fire force, Delicious in dungeon, Akame ga kill, Jujitsu kaisen, Rent a girlfriend (not for everyone), Apothecary diaries

MOVIES Cowboy bebop, Ninjascroll (not for everyone), Princess mononoke, Laputa, Ponio, Spirited away

These are just a few off the top of my head. Not everyone will agree but its something to look at

[-] arararagi@ani.social 4 points 1 year ago

Please don't recommend Akame ga Kill, they made a terrible anime ending that has nothing to do with the manga, leaving it open would be better.

Woah, thanks dude, guess my weekend is loaded :)

Your Lie in April is a drama romance. In that vein, I suggest you watch Toradora!. It's my favourite anime of all time.

Oragairu is also really good (and long, so you'll have plenty of material to enjoy), and Nichijou is also awesome, but it's a pure-comedy show, so a bit different from what you've seen, so far.

If you're looking for something a little more recent, I suggest watching The Apothecary Diaries.

Thank you so much man... really appreciate it

Planetes (ΠΛΆΝΗΤΕΣ). A really great science fiction anime by the creator of Cowboy Bebop. Pretty realistic as far as the "science" in science-fiction goes. A bit slow to start, but really touching.

I can also highly recommend Planetes and Cowboy Bebop.

Fruits Basket (2019), it's a wonderful show about trauma, healing, and the power of simply being a kind human being.

If you're looking for romance drama, I suggest Nana. It's one of my all time favourites.

[-] znatgd@ani.social 2 points 1 year ago

Ill be sure to watch it soon... thanks a lot

[-] muhyb@programming.dev 2 points 1 year ago

You're welcome! Have fun.

[-] NineSwords@ani.social 5 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

I recommend AnoHana. It is also a drama but with a splash of supernatural instead of romance.

Another easy recommendation in the fantasy genre is Frieren which is currently the highest rated anime on MAL, so it's hard to go wrong there.

My personal favorite anime is Haibane Renmei but after that, there isn't much worth in watching anything else anymore since it's only downhill from there, so I suggest to only watch it once you got your fill.

[-] znatgd@ani.social 2 points 1 year ago

Thank you so much... i dont really have a lot of time, but ill be sure to check all of them out!

What genres are you interested in?

[-] znatgd@ani.social 2 points 1 year ago

Im still finding out yk... this is my first time watching ANYTHING in general. I watch a lot of horror/gore when i was small tho

[-] I_Has_A_Hat@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

They're vastly different than Your Lie in April, which is a romance, but if you enjoy horror/gore, I'd recommend "Gantz" or "Berserk".

[-] znatgd@ani.social 1 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Yea, it took some time for me to appreciate Your Lie in April... but ive changed since i was small... still, ill check Gantz out first then...

Edit: from the two you suggested, i prefer Berserk

[-] znatgd@ani.social 1 points 1 year ago

Gantz: personally not for me Berserk: 7 / 10, lore is very interesting, but some "questionable" scenes are there.

[-] Slotos@feddit.nl 3 points 1 year ago

Salaryman Kintaro. It wields absurdity just right.

[-] znatgd@ani.social 1 points 1 year ago

Alright... ill be sure to check out your recommendations, thanks a lot

[-] arararagi@ani.social 2 points 1 year ago

Witch watch and Anne Shirley are currently airing, you will love them.

[-] znatgd@ani.social 1 points 1 year ago

Currently airing you say? Thank you so much, ill check it out too...

[-] MissingInteger@lemm.ee 2 points 1 year ago

I'm gonna suggest two animes too:

Baccano! Non-linear storytelling, 1930s Chicago, and mostly on a train. Fantastic 12 episode anime (no need to watch the OVAs they are mostly an extended epilogue).

Akudama Drive: Fantastic cyberpunk, action. Awesome characters. 12 Episodes long and complete.

Note: I see OP's (closed), but I don't see them recommended often and both are only 12 episodes long and complete and extremely good.

[-] znatgd@ani.social 2 points 1 year ago

Thanks a lot. Yes i did mark it as closed, but thats only to let people know my current list is full (i have like limited time). Ill keep you all updated, share my thoughts.

[-] znatgd@ani.social 2 points 11 months ago

UPDATE1. Baccano! -- already into the first episode, and its fantastic!! Very innovative 9/10
