Someone in another comment chain mentioned that Trumkers (trump sneakers) look cheaply made. Would someone with an eye for shoes be able to elaborate?

[–] [email protected] 52 points 7 months ago (1 children)

Why wouldn't they be manufactured as cheaply as possible? The entire point is the grift.

That’s fair, but my pleather shoes keep leaking after 6 months and I’m mostly trying to figure out how to pick better shoes while engaging in the time tested tradition of trump taunting.

I just buy Skechers and wear them until they disintegrate, so I dunno. Extra points for alliteration

I second Sketchers, hard to find wide shoes that fit to begin with.

Skechers are so damn comfortable and they last.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 7 months ago (1 children)

My first pleather shoes were skechers and they died after 3 months, sadly. :’(

Bah that sucks!

I've been wearing Skechers for a good 20 years now. I buy a new pair maybe every 3 years and they're cheap, so that's fine.

Trump taunting aside, Merrell brand boots and shoes are the best. Long wearing and comfortable.

What's your preferred style and budget?

Casual sneakers or ankle-high boots made of brown pleather or a comfortably pliable leather that can go with a variety of outfits. Not those specifically, it’s just immensely difficult to find pics online these days. I’d go up to 150 for shoes that I can actually wear for a few years. Any tips on seeing material defects would be immensely helpful after an unexaggerated decade of short-lived shoes I’m too stubborn to let die.

I really hate shoes with pointy ends. It squeezes your big toe out of shape and can give you bunions.

Rose Anvil on YouTube does tear-downs of boots to show what brands have quality materials and good support versus what are just garbage. Recommend looking though his videos.

I’ve started checking them out. It’s a neat premise, cutting the shoes apart. Thank you!

Pleather is a terrible material in basically every way possible

[–] [email protected] 1 points 7 months ago

I’ve had pleather survive 10+ years in other use cases. It can be hardy and host a decent veneer, albeit rarely.

It does not matter. It's a way for people to mass purchase these and allow them to circumvent campaign contribution limitations.

Just buy 20 containers for resale and then let them rot in a warehouse while trump sells more to his MAGAts.

Yep, it's the old book deal con except with shoes. Either the Russians or the American idiot class, or both.

I mean, the gold looks like it was spray painted on.

It will start to crack when drying after it encounters the first bit of rain.
