they explicitly state what they think "flagship instance" was being used to mean 3 years ago. i clearly used it with a different definition. your link is worse than irrelevant: an argument that relies on it falls prey to a logical fallacy called equivocation.

and this meme smacks of an appeal to ridicule. it doesn't make what you said any more true or undermine the strength of my position. it's pure rhetoric.

XD

Updooted! Le heckin funny M'Sir. Tips fedora

I'll say it again though. If you can prove to me that Lemmy in it's entirety needs to maintain a leftist focus then I will delete my account. You can be the one to do that Bigmouth. I will even post my hog before I leave as is tradition.

more appeal to ridicule

> prove to me that Lemmy in it’s entirety needs to maintain a leftist focus

no one is saying that. i'm saying you knew what you were getting (or you know now), and whining isn't going to change it or make anyone sympathetic.

So is your answer

A. Lemmy is inherently leftist therefore I need to not expect otherwise

B. I need to stop whining, this is how FOSS works

C. All of the above

Is this correct?

mostly a

I'm not going to tell you you need to stop whining, I'm just saying it is probably falling on deaf ears at best, and likely is actively bothering some. but you do what you want.

Okay. Why is Lemmy.world defederated from hexbear and lemmygrad if lemmy is inherently leftist? Why is beehaw defederated from lemmy.world?

have you never organized with leftists? i was in one organization that formed in 2020 that, by early 2021 was two DIFFERENT organizations (both abandoning even the old name) (lets call them "b" and "c"), and then c splintered, and became c and d, then c splintered again and became c and e. as far as i know, b doesn't exist at all anymore, nor does c or d. there was one more splintering that took place within c, leading to an organization f. but for a few moments, we were all gloriously at each others' throats.

so, to answer your question, i don't know the particulars of their schisms, but i'm sure that they have good reason.

major edit:

i just want to say while group c had a lot of good theory and experience organizing, group b was the best of us, and all they did was look out for each other. they might not have had analysis, but they did the fucking work. the rest of us were committed marxists and anarchists, and that fact got in the way of doing real work. pour one out for the people who did the work.
