He's widely hated in Houston among everyone who doesn't actively go to his church.

Other than to periodically find his grandstanding annoying, I barely notice that the guy exists 99 days out of 100. And I think you underestimate exactly how many Houstonians gloom on to his vaguely Christian themed self-help ministries. He's far more popular than unpopular, if you edge out the people who find him mildly annoying but mostly aren't bothered by him one way or another.

Guy isn't even the worst preacher in town, either. If you really want a soulless blood-sucking chud, go check out Ed Young at Houston Second Baptist. That freak is at the heart of Trump-flag waving, Proud Boy marching, cop worshiping, O&G fetishizing far-right community.

Joel Osteen's greatest sin was realizing you could fleece dipshit liberals by making Barack Obama noises from the old Houston Rockets basketball stadium. Ed Young is the guy calling for Trans kids to be tortured back into their original genders and migrants to be shot on sight.
