God it's so frustrating fighting against the tidal wave of misinformation. How did Republicans win at social media??

[–] [email protected] 6 points 9 months ago

Because morons who fancy themselves revolutionaries are more than happy to join hands with fascists. "After Trump, us!"

I would rephrase the title to say "Also" and not "Instead". Biden did reform immigration detention. He also moved to more private detention centers. There are no longer children in cages, families being separated, or families being detained at all.

it seemed like "the barest minimum" compared to what was initially envisioned by the group that conducted the review, one of the officials said.

I'm glad the bar is so low for you. Maybe try picking it up off the ground sometime.

If the bar is low, its bc of the past 50+ years of neoliberal politics. Its much easier to burn systems to the ground a la trump than it is to build new ones from scratch or improve existing systems.

Complaining about the bar being too low doesnt get it any higher, especially if ones vote or lack thereof goes towards helping the fascist win.

We are past that point. Now is the time to protest.

Yes yes. Been protesting since 16.

Youll find that such actions are much harder in places like russia, you know, the place the opposing candidate is busy fellating.

Eta: and u didnt even address that burning the system down is easier than building anything up. Where are those systems of mutual aid we would need for a revolution to succeed? Bc the red painted fascists are busy convincing us that lgbtq folks aint in danger instead of, you know, working to make life easier for anyone.

Unless we have a global reset like tomorrow, we are heading for the climate apocalypse. We don't have time for business as usual neoliberalism. Fuck Russia. Fuck America. Fuck humanity.

We especially dont have time for burn it to the ground doomerism. Once again, it is harder to create and ammend things than it is to just take them apart. We dont have any way mutual aid systems in place, and just knee jerking at the system bc it sucks doesnt help bring those any closer.

We dont have time for neoliberal garbage, true, but we especially dont have time for the outright fascist to turn this country into a place where you have even less influence on how things go, be that by participation in the system, direct action, or what have u.
