The whole argument that video games must be complete escapism has been twisting my brain in knots.
Like there's a lot there to be analyzed. The need for "escapism" over just playing a game because its fun is a scary turn.
These dorks are annoying, yes, but holy shit are they okay? Like there's so many threads I want to tug on but I'm afraid to. Like why do they need to escape? Why can escapism only be right wing? Where does this start, when they're kids or when they're older and disaffected? where in the video game culture is this idea presented and supported?
Even the basis that "games are escapism", means one is playing games in a way someone does drugs. A comfort, an escape, the inability to address issues in ones own life.
I'm not remotely qualified to analyze any of this but it just feels really dark and foreboding overall.
They probably consider Call of fucking Duty to be neutral and not ideology
The played fallout 4 and thought liberty prime was a cool robot that made some good points.
That's 3
also 4 unfortunately.
They did it twice? Jesus
yeah fallout 4 has many, many unfortunate story decisions. so much "remember how cool the blah blah was???!?"
