Whenever an ignorant Westerner starts parroting the propaganda line about supposed persecution of Muslims in China show them videos like this - a thriving Hui Muslim community deep in south western China. Remind them that there are more mosques in China than in all of Europe and America put together...and by a large margin too!

Even videos of rural Xinjiang look like stellar commendations. If sinophobic westerners had any interest in coming to terms with reality they would not be the way they are.

Yup. And this isn't even Xinjiang, this is an entirely different part of China that i bet the vast majority of Westerners have never even heard of. They only know China through the propaganda their media feeds them.

The propaganda tells them that this is meaningless, because the Hui are can "model minority" that the CCP just keeps around for the aesthetics of diversity, while they genocide the Uyghurs.

The mental gymnastics never end.

I suppose it is a case of projection, since their own countries do it with minorities such as Asians.

On this topic, there is a book called The Karma of Brown Folk by Vijay Prashad which tackles how the myth of the model minority came about and how it is weaponised against minority groups like Black, Indigenous, etc. I haven't read the book yet but how these minority groups came to be in the imperial core is probably a factor. For example, Black Americans being descended from slaves while many Indian have to fulfill strict visa requirements to "prove their worth" to be let into the imperial core.

Pretty much on point.
