You're probably joking, but in the article it states that these people showed Xi around Iowa like 40 years ago when he was part of some farming committee. They left such a good impression on him that apparently they've stayed in touch. It's really sweet honestly. In the article he says something like "to me, these people are america"
"Xi, respectfully, these people are big agriculture magnates, so you are correct that they are America; however, I think your positive reaction to that fact is a bit concerning"
