I heard that it comes from some biography and wasn't cited in that, but I forget which biography.

Same places that claim Mao had a harem of child slaves I think (orientalist)

Last time it came up on Hexbear a few years ago the general consensus was it was probably bullshit but not to deify stalin-shining regardless bc communists aren't supposed to do that

I think the general claim was that he was run out of a small town or village when he was 17 years old by a mob claiming some reason or another but mobs are unreliable sources
