Nice day out there. I'm going to see how much digging/brick removal I can get in before the sun gets too strong and/or I collapse from exhaustion.

Digging out old brick lined garden beds? I know alll the tricks! (Had to yoink some very well built old ones for landscaping purposes)

Digging out badly laid brick paving to turn a courtyard into garden beds. It's laid with sand, in a circular pattern that leaves large gaps between the bricks, so it is not difficult to pull them out, just work moving all the bricks.

Ooof. Then there's the sand and the soil reconditioning....

I'm building the beds up for that reason. I'm doing a layer of wood at the bottom that is supposed to break down and help hold moisture, then it will have about 30-35cm of bought soil/compost mix. So after the bricks there is moving wood and shovelling soil. If all goes to plan it should be ready for my summer vegies to go in mid October.

I find it really hurts to disassemble someone else's good craftmanship. Always hope that what goes there instead will be equally well built (but often isn't).

Eh, less hurt here. 'Twas in the way of my greenhouse!
