Doesn't she claim to be a centrist democrat?

Well Tim Pool also claims to be a centrist and Kim Jong Un also claims to be the leader of a Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

The Nazis claimed to be socialists so the farmers and working class supported them, and when they took power the actual socialists were among the first to be slaughtered. Crazy how it just keeps happening that fascists act like they’re inclusive, progressive but in fact align with the bigots, corporate class and wealthy.

UK-based Palestinian-Lebanese researcher Elia Ayoub has defined the term [reactionary centrists] as "centrists who often validate perceived concerns of the right and far right while blaming the left for the failures of centrist politics... those who are convinced that the way to do politics is to effectively treat the far right as ‘the people’, the default, the silent majority. They don’t view themselves as right wingers, but act as though right wing politics are always more popular with ‘the people.’"

100%. This explains why the Overton window of political thought in the West has moved so much to the right. In the UK, far right, black shirted masked agitators are referred to by the centrist Labour Party as people with ‘legitimate concerns’

She says she supports neither party but is a “left of center liberal.” However she doesn’t seem to know what those words mean, and spends most of her time complaining about “wokeness” and how people are mean to Israel. If you’ve got 30 minutes, John Oliver did a thing last year when she took over, predicting this headline https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gieTx_P6INQ

    Key word: Liberal.

Liberal doesn't mean Leftist. If she's left-of-center for the Liberal bloc, she's in the same company with Schumer, Pelosi, or Jeffries. Right-of-center Libs are people like Fetterman.

The Democratic Party these days is just the Republican party but with better messaging for marginalized humans.

We need to collectively learn that Liberal does not mean Leftist.

Is she even a liberal though? She's a puppet of fascists. I don't see how she's left of center by any measure.

Yeah and if I was disingenuously trying to get my controversial right wing beliefs normalized in the party I'd call myself that too. Her main issues are zionism and transphobia, but she's generally extremely anti woke so you can assume there's plenty of other bigotry in there too.

Anybody that calls themselves centrist or independent immediately has my skepticism. Article below has a quote from an independent vote in TN that made me laugh out loud. A maga independent.

    https://wpln.org/post/nashville-voter-turnout-15-times-higher-than-last-midterm-so-far/

Independent voter … wasn’t excited about any of the candidates.

“But being a believer in Christ, I’m going to vote … for representatives that represent my beliefs,” Allen said. “I’ve got to vote for people that are going to uphold our security … We have an administration in D.C. right now that’s actually looking after those interests.”

Don't even get me started on the whole "independent" voter bullshit.

Here in Washington state, "Independent" has always been code for "Republican but that's not as popular in this state so covering it with Independent"

Their policies are somehow almost always lockstep with the Republican party.

Do you think “independent” voter is synonymous with “swing” or “undecided” voters? Because they are most certainly not always. I’m registered independent but I have very principled leftist stances, but I also vote for harm reduction. I just prefer not to label myself with a political party. That doesn’t mean I vote for grifters like Jill Stein either, or that I have ever, or will ever vote for some pig-ass Republican fascist. The primary is the only chance I get to be excited about a candidate.

We are in bad shape if we think we have to pick a team to be considered an important voice. I can root for a team every single time, that doesn’t mean I have to buy the jersey. If you think for me to root for your team I have to be wearing the same colors as you, you’re not a fan. You only care about being in a group. This is how we get a team that doesn’t care about winning anymore. I don’t just mean winning elections, I mean pushing forth an agenda that helps people, and makes the country better. Make people see we deserve to win.

And I hope that you have open primaries where you're at then, otherwise I would consider you as a independent, which clearly you're not and neither are most "independents" when you're acting in a obviously partisan fashion as part of the problem. And if you are in a open primary state and voting in the primary, then hey, cool, keep on keeping on with the Independent label then but let's not pretend that you're not acting in a partisan fashion.

When you live in a state where there's no open primary then identifying as a independent then registering to a party and participating in the primary is not treating politics as a sport or buying the jersey as you say. Registering and voting in the primary to get better candidates that deserve to win is that attempt at harm reduction and a much better form of harm reduction than just being a "independent" and hoping that you get a better candidate.

My two cents on the whole Independent sitaution.

Yep. We discovered a whole bunch of them right after W's fantastic flameout after the Eight Year Debacle.

Weird how that works. I'm bracing for a whole lot more this time around. A bunch of "independents" that probably throw in with whatever bullshit the cons cook up for them as a lifeboat.

Last time the lifeboats were the Teabagger Party.

    Burn the lifeboats.

I'm an independent voter. I just happen to basically always pick Democrats because I'm an informed voter and conservatives have been bat shit for a long ass time now, since well before I could vote.

So do male trump voters that are single after they keep getting rejected romantically when they reveal they're MAGA.

Many women don't want to involve themselves with men who reject the idea of their bodily autonomy, possibly even the right to vote, or have a bank account or a credit card or equal pay, or a no-fault divorce.

The amount of ink spilled on that, even to the point of a moral panic ("women don't even want to date Republicans any more, how is that even fair?"), was and is just so crazy to me.

The idea of Popper's Paradox of tolerance seems to have been so thoroughly rejected by the reactionary centrists gnashing their teeth and rending their garments over this that they seem to believe women should honor the Tone Police on their "civility" nonsense that they should literally sleep with their enemies.

this is why the right is mulling over a push to take womens votes away. Womens votes are a sleeping giant. They were merely somewhat angry but resigned/scared for a lot of their lives, but now they are really effing angry all the time, and not just at republicans. They are also now increasingly just as angry at idiot centrist dems as they are at maga, and its making women in general a risk to the status quo. So maybe the centrist leaders will fail to fight for them as well. Its kind of the centrists whole brand, as they continually lurch rightward year after year.
