I’m excited to go back to piracy. I’m hoping things are easier in 2026 than even I last did it 20 years ago.

Much easier. Stremio with the Torrentio and/or MediaFusion plugins. RealDebrid is like $3/mo, don't even need a VPN. It works pretty much identically to one of the corpo streaming apps, and it has everything in one place!

Only thing with stremio is that the tv app has been crashing a lot recently-- I moved over to Nuvio (which can import stremio addons and watch history) and am very impressed with it so far!

Another option is Usenet with the *arr suite. Super easy program flow.

Only that you pay the same in HDD costs as for a billion streaming services, these days, to feed another billionaires pockets 😢.

But at least you decide when, where and under which conditions you watch your media.

I'm annoyed when i decided to ditch pirating and go legit, only to find out legit cost more to do, limited in whatever i wanna watch, and will be taken down. Gaben is on to something when he said it's a service problem.
