Gullible GOP voters typically vote out of fear for Republicans so the Party can protect them from scary immigrants, muslims and the big bad trans boogeyman, but they may have finally found something that scares them even more than marginalized minorities: higher gas prices. After diesel passed $6 a gallon a number of Trump voters started shrieking—and some even threatened to vote Democrat. In this video we’ll look at a viral regretful Trump voter and disillusioned farmers to see how fellow Republicans are trying to convince them to not vote for Democrats in November.

i expect it to. saw an article that said trump was advocating for a diesel export ban, which would probably be the only thing that might bring diesel prices down.... but it's unclear how well it would work, or if that kind of quasi-nationalization would have cascading effects when the fossil fuel capital formations inevitably respond. if they even allowed that to happen in the first place.

short of that sort of unprecedented move, we are very much locked in to spiraling diesel, imo.

I think a problem with a diesel export ban would be that most of the diesel refineries in America are majority owned by companies in foreign countries like France and Saudi Arabia. I don't know how they'd react to that. Maybe divesting their holdings in the refineries? I don't know. Would they go as far as shutting down refineries entirely?

i think they would do whatever it took to monkeywrench the effectiveness of the ban, ao they could get back to making as much money as possible from their control over a critical resource. whether that's a slowdown or conversion or something else, i don't know.

this industry, if nothing else, has demonstrated a willingness to sacrifice everything for short term gains and i don't think the US is willing to go all the way.

articles make it seem like the administration is divided over even acknowledging this half measure. i don't see how they'd take the necessary steps like freezing assets, arresting noncompliant executives, and appointing competent outside managers and operational leadership to take control.

it would probably force a 25th amendment style coup.
