[–] AceFuzzLord@lemmy.zip 19 points 19 hours ago (6 children) Is a silverware area thingy not standard or was it removed? Who puts good sharp knives in the washer? I was always told you should hand wash them. permalink fedilink source hideshow 12 child comments replies: [–] gravitas_deficiency@sh.itjust.works 45 points 19 hours ago This is 100% ragebait lol permalink fedilink source parent [–] tacosanonymous@mander.xyz 10 points 15 hours ago (2 children) Anecdotally, newer machines have removable baskets. Some also have a thin rack at the top specifically for silverware. (Mine has it, they lie horizontally and free up dish space on the bottom rack) Psychopaths. But that’s the meme. You’re not supposed to put them or cast iron skillets in there. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 4 child comments replies: [–] Dozzi92@lemmy.world 3 points 14 hours ago Love the silverware up top, good piece of gear. permalink fedilink source parent [–] Ghoelian@piefed.social 1 point 12 hours ago I don't care. I didn't buy a dishwasher because i still wanted to had wash some. If it doesn't survive the dishwasher i don't want it. permalink fedilink source parent [–] Sanguine@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 13 hours ago (1 child) The cast iron is wild and obv just a rage bait post, but most kitchen knives are fine in the d/w. Have a victorinox 8" and its still good as new. Purist will tell you I'm wrong but I'm not. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 1 point 6 minutes ago Shitty knives definitely can't handle it permalink fedilink source parent [–] twisted@sh.itjust.works 11 points 17 hours ago (1 child) This might be ragebait but people are definitely serious about this shit. I don’t know what they think happens inside a dishwasher, it’s just some water splashing about followed by some heat. “Is it dishwasher safe? It doesn’t say it is!” Fuck off, just put it in the top rack and be done with it. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] ricecake@sh.itjust.works 14 points 17 hours ago (2 children) Some plastics will melt even on the top rack. Some older plastics will actively breakdown and release junk in the dishwasher. Some metal corrodes quickly with hot water, soap, and hot air. It also offends your ancestral spirits. On the plus side, it's pretty straightforward that it can either be cleaned in the dishwasher or in the oven. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 4 child comments replies: [–] Junkers_Klunker@feddit.dk 5 points 12 hours ago Aluminium is a big one, that shit will oxidise to hell and back in a dishwasher as the detergent is caustic. permalink fedilink source parent [–] twisted@sh.itjust.works 4 points 16 hours ago (1 child) In all my years of dishwashering, I have only really offended my ancestral spirits once, but I doubt they will even remember it since there is so much else to be disappointed about. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] nilloc@discuss.tchncs.de 1 point 6 hours ago Plus if they saw this, they’ve also seen more than enough batein’ to care about a rusty pan or 3. permalink fedilink source parent [–] tyler@programming.dev 12 points 19 hours ago For number 2, that’s part of the joke I would guess. Sha Ra Ku Mono The best knife I have ever held. Buy it for life. There's another Japanese brand called Global and they are one piece but not as amazing to hold as the Sha Ra Ku Mono. My wife was a professional chef so we splurged to get her a full set over the years. The bread knife is a fucking chainsaw man... You have to really be careful or it'll bite you HARD. I think only one place outside of Japan sells them. https://seacut.com/collections/sha-ra-ku-mono permalink fedilink source parent [–] SatansMaggotyCumFart@piefed.world 3 points 17 hours ago Those are probably carbon steel and will be fucked if you put them in the dishwasher. permalink fedilink source parent
