The No Kings Act (S.4973) is a piece of federal legislation introduced by Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) on August 1, 2024, to counter the Supreme Court’s July 2024 ruling in Trump v. United States which granted former presidents broad immunity for official acts. brump

The bill did not become law.  It was introduced in the 118th Congress (2023–2025) but died on January 3, 2025, when the Congress ended without a floor vote.  The legislation had passed the Senate Judiciary Committee but faced certain defeat in the Republican-controlled House of Representatives.
