You say you're against AI, yet you fart. Curious!

I know it is stupid, but I can't compose good enough points to reply to it. Can someone help me think in a good way to reply?
Legit, here are some:
Red herring fallacy. This distracts from the fact it is true: generative AI uses a lot of power and water for things no one ASKED for. AI could at least be quasi-tolerable if it was 100% optional. How much electricity would be saved if Google didn’t make AI overview mandatory. Also, how much would it save if AI slop wasn’t the priority?
Half of these things are just being an assoomer. What if the guy criticizing AI’s wastefulness has made an effort to reduce reuse etc in other parts of their life? This is a gotcha.
They forget that many software engineers who made their precious treat printers are also concerned about how much power it uses. The whole principle of engineering is how to do the most with less. There’s a fucking patent on ways to reduce Bitcoin’s power use.
Again. Most people didn’t ask for it, this is only liked by fart-sniffers. In a sense, it’s a Republican prius.
I mean the obvious thing to say is that most of those other things are more tangibly useful to society than anything an Ai does . So the waste and pollution that things like data centers create is a complete waste. Imagine I tell a gambling addict they're wasting their money, but then they reply that I bought groceries last week.
yeah, ask them what's the plan to stop farting
Maybe start from the way in which for living humans the things we do are to continue to live and thrive. We need food, we poop, we by default consume and use things to exist at all. Our bodies are made from this earth and upkept by it. And doing anything at all on this earth is kind of the point of our existance and all of it consumes something, there is no humanity without the use of resources.
Society is the way we have organized ourselves as a species, but all the fundamental animal things we do we still need to do to survive. We cannot just not breathe.
AI is not alive, it isn't needed. Nothing it consumes is an actual need. This comparison tries to assign value to it that it does not have. It isn't even a thing on its own without people, it's made by people. This comparison is therefore pretty unserious and harder to debunk because the premises are completely uneven.
More and more I realise that the conclusion of their argument is that humans should be eradicated. Now I wonder if someone wrote a science fiction in which AI reached the same conclusion? 🤔🤔🤔
Yeah the whole thing is very dehumanizing to me as well, smells like fash logic.
These guys are mostly TESCREAL weirdos who think humanity's only purpose was to give birth to AI. We are a transitional fossil on their view, and they're fine with (or even enthusiastic about) us going extinct as soon as we finish the project. The more honest ones are very open about this.
Yeah and they're all "not me tho I'm different" about it, they think when we give birth to AI they'll be among the Elect.
Fewer beans
'These are mature industries meaning they have been around for a while and operate at an astronomical scale, ai, specifically llm and diffusion like chatgpt and Midjourney are babies compared to these industries but they're compared to them, this alone should show the resources required to power these things'
