Me too. Especially because the personnel selection for air traffic controller is pretty tight under normal circumstances. You not only have to demonstrate aptitude during training but also social and communication skills, which are super important for this job. I somehow doubt that filling the ranks with gamers is going to accomplish that.

Social aptitude and Communication are critical skills for online gaming. Your "doubt" is about 20 years out of date.

I dunno man I was playing counter strike yesterday (why do I do it to myself I don't know) and I can tell you its about the same as it ever was 20 years ago when I played.

I'm hoping the dearth of good ATC on VATSIM is because the good folks who volunteer to do ATC with morons are getting paid for it now. They're actually quite good at the job.
