I hate to sound defeatist, but the US will never recover in its current form. The US political system is too right-leaning, and the right wing propaganda machine and cuts to education have done irreparable damage.

We need a complete change in trajectory to recover, and left unchecked the GOP and DNC will burn the country to the ground before they let that happen. Nothing short of a French medieval device will do.

We’re not that right leaning, our political system gives too much power to empty land that happens to have a few right wing nuts living there.

The "medieval device" you are referring to, back in 1792, was in fact a cutting-edge modern era device.

I will add, even once US recovers from this, people killed by ICE aren't coming back.

It's the Fall of Rome. Sooner or later, there'll be military crisis as charismatic leaders tear the nation apart.

I don't believe its impossible.

Its very improbable, but the sudden rise of democratic socialists and massive support thats forming around them does open up possibilities, if enough of them get elected to power, they could start to right the ship. Get even more into offices, and they could start undoing bullshit and passing fresh new laws, for the people, not the powerful.

I don’t believe the end of our current political system means we all die, it hopefully means the shitheads in charge face consequences and we get a system in place that doesn’t let this happen again.
