Chat is a text only community for casual conversation, please keep shitposting to the absolute minimum. This is intended to be a separate space from c/chapotraphouse or the daily megathread. Chat does this by being a long-form community where topics will remain from day to day unlike the megathread, and it is distinct from c/chapotraphouse in that we ask you to engage in this community in a genuine way. Please keep shitposting, bits, and irony to a minimum.
As with all communities posts need to abide by the code of conduct, additionally moderators will remove any posts or comments deemed to be inappropriate.
Thank you and happy chatting!

That can't be real lmao what the fuck
It might have just been bad wording on their part, but it does remain to this day the dumbest thing I think I've ever heard from someone. They thought that a long drive across the desert would be "shorter" for them because they use miles and not kilometers. They might have meant that it would feel shorter since they're used to long drives, but they also didn't seem to understand that they couldn't just drive across the desert (which is a trip that takes days and requires a huge amount of prep and emergency supplies, there's nothing out there), even if they were used to long drives, so they might have just not understood the distances involved in driving across the country in Australia and thought the country was just much smaller than it is, but they were oddly hung up on the kilometres vs miles part of it.
