UK Politics
General Discussion for politics in the UK.
Please don't post to both !uk_politics@feddit.uk and !unitedkingdom@feddit.uk .
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.
Posts should be related to UK-centric politics, and should be either a link to a reputable news source for news, or a text post on this community.
Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.
If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread. (These things should be publicly discussed)
Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.
Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.
Can you explain what about China is imperial? They haven't invaded anybody or overthrown any foreign governments. What's your qualification?
Motherfucker you don't even know what a tankie fucking is
Could it be because the US is a massive hegemonic empire whose tendrils reach into all the world's politics?
China is not "imperial" that is absurd. Russia may have nationalist reactionary ambitions but their position in opposition to the greater evil that is the US is why there is critical support among some on the left. Russia does not have a massive global financial apparatus including hundreds of NGOs and finance capital used to impose extractivist policies on subjects around the world.
Neither China nor Russia have even a tenth of a percent of the US 800+ overseas military installations.
Nobody is looking up to Russia and calling China a "shithole" is just racist white supremacist brainworms, which you proved yet again.
It might be a tankie thing to change the subject ten times in one reply like I've never heard of a gish gallop. First they laugh at you, as they say - sometimes you just leave it at that.
How am I the one changing the subject when I just asked why you weirdos are so obsessed with bringing up Russia in entirely unrelated threads?
Hardly unrelated, reform (and it's predecessors) have a long history with Russian money.
It's not unrelated, as the other person mentioned. And on a closer inspection you changed the subject six times.
All of this gnashing of teeth from you because I made one joke about Farage's crooked campaign finance, and somehow I'm the weirdo?
Fuck it. Let's call this one a wash and hopefully next time we'll be able to take each other more seriously. None of this conversation seems salvageable at this point, sorry to have bothered you.
