I was just grooving to this earlier!
Which, for anyone that doesn't know me is a weird thing to be excited over. It's fucking Miles Davis, anyone into jazz is likely to be a fan.
I wasn't. My journey into jazz is recent, and of one the things I discovered was that the reason I didn't like most jazz previously was horns. I didn't like horns. They're still not mu favorite tbh. But, and it's a giant but for me, I have found myself not only disliking horns less, but actually liking some of it.
And today, just this day, that very video/song flipped my inner switch for the first time, and I was all "holy fuck, this is why people talk about him as a god of music". I got it. The way he stays in the pocket, the way he never over plays, the subtlety and mastery of his fingering and lips (that's what she said).
And I've heard that track before, but whatever fuse in my brain that would snap when horns were involved didn't today for the same song, and I'm so fucking elated lol
