Everyone in the US should start getting colonoscopies at 45, the recommended age. Colon cancer is quite preventable if you catch it early, and insurance is legally required to cover preventative screenings after that age.
If you have a family history of colon cancer in a first degree relative, talk to your doctor about getting screenings approved at an earlier age.
Save your ass, save your life.
Everyone should get a colonoscopy whenever it's offered ~~adorably~~ affordably. You'll feel weightless after all the colon blow, you get a great nap out of the deal, and the epic farts after feel so amazingly satisfying. As an added minor bonus, it's good preventative care.
Edit: a word. Oopsie poopsie.

"Affordability" has gotten so bad in the United States healthcare that autocorrect won't even let us use it in the same sentence as any procedures!
Some of my laughter from your comment is embarrassment, but it's mostly because that's a fucking hilarious thing to imagine the one proctologist I know saying that.
I was paranoid once in my early twenties so I asked a doctor to check my bum for cancer (I didn't know much about it at the time other than that it's a thing that people do and apparently it's nothing to be ashamed of, but I was also a bit of a hypochondriac).
Well she probably thought I was too young for that and just being a weirdo, cause she made it HURT as badly as she could, and I've had a thing about avoiding doctors ever since.
one more example of "useless tests are bad". unfortunately there are no statistics for this kind of harm. see my other comment
Or maybe, like, if you're a doctor giving a rectal exam then maybe your patient shouldn't walk away feeling as if he had just been anally raped. Even if you think he's too young to request a screening...
And of he's too young to request a screening just say so and ask if they still want to do it...
Also important note that colon cancer has been increasing in people much younger than 45 as well. Get checked peeps.
