TIL that the MP9 is descended from the TMP design. I knew they looked similar.
Yeah, although it's not even so much "descended" as "basically the same gun" - B&T just bought all the rights to the design directly from Steyr, and started making it themselves with some very minor modifications, mainly adding in a folding stock, plus a rail on top. Here's a TMP
and an MP9 without the stock for comparison (it still has a slightly elongated lower receiver to accommodate the stock when it's actually attached)
