[–] mountainRadish@lemmy.world 31 points 1 month ago (1 child) Reddit is a shit show... can I say that!? I got banned and I see weird posts and replies that is obviously Ai slop. My friend and I got shadow banned. We have no idea why!? It used to be good... the future is not reddit. Ps: I apologize for farting while typing this comment. permalink fedilink source hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] wallabra@lemmy.eco.br 17 points 1 month ago (1 child) They put AI moderators in charge and I have a feeling they're whittling their own userbase down and that that might be having an effect on their stocks too. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] Buddahriffic@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago (1 child) Lol if they trained an AI on their own moderators, it's no surprise that they moderate in an arbitrary kind of way. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] UnequalExchange@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago (1 child) the problem is that the majority of redditor moderators and admins act in ways that are very arbitrary when it comes to their banning of certain comments ,posts or ideologies . So if the humans doijng the job do the job in borderline nonsensical ways....how would the AI fair in such things? The reasom why AI works well in a coffee maker is because its very straight forward to make different caffeinated beverages in straightforward ways. Just follow the recipe as long as you have the ingredients and equipment. Simple. But when it comes to humans communicsting ideas? There has never been a perfect recipe for any of it and there probably wont be ever. Sometimes a person is literally a natsee but the way they communicate it is through half-way phrases and dogwhistles and its harder to sniff out if this oerson is being malicious or not and sometimes a person is communicating a great idea Let me give you an example of something that I think demonstrates the nonsensicalness of reddit ai modding due to its lack of complex understanding. I was on this one subreddit and we were talking about a crime that broke headline news and some natsees started brigading the post and saying absolutely awful things. I reported and replied to many of the natsee comments. But suddently I got banned from thate subreddit forever and I looked for the reason why... I was banned because my reply to a nat see had the word 'Black' in it. ...I simply replied to the natsee that 'I am a Black man' and Im guessing the AI saw me commenting 'Black' and automatically thought I was making a derogatory comment... permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] wallabra@lemmy.eco.br 2 points 4 weeks ago (1 child) That's not even AI in a coffee maker, that's just... a coffee maker XD Anyway, this 100%, you make great points. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] UnequalExchange@lemmy.world 1 point 4 weeks ago (1 child) wait , I thougut that modern coffee makers 'read' the instructions on those little modern coffee packets and it uses AI to understand the instructions to make different types of coffees in different types of ways.
