Made anonymous because this is just a post from the sharepoint at my work.

Officeworkers find it too hard to write bullshit reports and drag and drop presentations using default templates. AI was meant to make it easier for them to create the slop no one reads or refers to after the initial meeting.

But now using AI is TOO HARD because people don't read what it says and can forget to hit the Enter key.

Sharing here because when I saw this it pissed me off so much. I can't believe there are people out there like this.

Text from post:

Imagine being able to pick up from where you left off, on the go.

Remember the time you thought you had constructed the perfect prompt. Given Claude all that you think it needed to produce that killer slide deck. And you hit submit, thinking you’d come back to find the finished deck, ready to roll.

Then you came back to the computer just to find it asking “Here’s the plan, are you happy with it before I go ahead?”

If only you had that power in your pocket, you could have typed “yes, go ahead” while you were in that meeting that could have been a Teams chat.

using AI to develop copy for humans to read is so counter intuitive to me. it's like the kind of thing people who don't read would do, because they've not yet come across AI slop text in the wild and realized how its the textual-cognitive equivalent of chewing styrofoam. sentences that don't communicate anything except lead to the next and the next until you've read paragraphs of nothing.

with each interation of the scrapers, the snake eats itself and more of the meal is this undigestible styroslop as the real archives of actual conversation are occluded in walled gardens.

the only people who aren't seeing this decay are the people who just don't read shit online.

Do you mean like this AI generated post on what you just said someone at work posted today?

[-] came_apart_at_Kmart@hexbear.net 23 points 1 week ago

ugh, yes. crap like this is why, when people send me shit to proof/copy edit, i completely engage with it and give them notes instead of skimming it and calling it good. i want to there to be less slop in the world and i want to keep my own tools sharp.

note: i don't self-edit much on here because i like to cowboy post. like this blammo send it

What level of irony was this person on when they posted this?

[-] tombruzzo@hexbear.net 8 points 1 week ago

There is no irony on Viva Engage. These people are true believers

There are many good reasons to hate AI, but having to see the “it’s not X - it’s Y” structure everywhere is a really good reason.

Tbf I worked a copywriting job and a large part of it was just squeezing words around the advertising images and calls to action, none of us actually expected the audience to sit down and engage with the copy (though there's copywriting and copywriting
