I have an emphatic hatred for SMART goals. It's not that I can't or don't set goals for myself, I just hate having to force my objectives into cookie cutter management jargon. I just can't bring myself to care, because my brain doesn't work that way; I get more value from the journey than from checking the box at the end. I'd much rather declare some nebulous destination so I can take on projects and challenge myself to work towards that, so I have opportunities to learn/ practice the skills I want to grow.

im not 100% sure if im the same but the thing is that as far as large life goes I just want to be free to follow my nose. experience and learn as I go. I work jobs for money and prefer ones where I can figure things out. They sorta got to let me know what they want figured out. I don't have goals for my time at a company. If I did I would likely be running my own company. I have sometimes encountered companies who relate something like that when hiring. We want a startup attitude. So you want people who would do their own startup but don't for some reason and instead work for you??? come on. really. I feel like over the last several years more and more of the world runs on pure bulltrump.
