any suggestion for a mbin instance? (feddit.it)

I discovered about Lemmy and Piefed devs opinions and views which i not agree with¹, so i was thinking of using Mbin², i looked in to join mbin website and idk what to choose, there is a big instance which i want to avoid³ and idk if the smaller ones are stable, any suggestion?

1 Piefed is also made with Python which isn't the fastest language and i hate reading python codebases lmao

2 Please don't tell me that the devs are nazis or smth 😭

3 joining a big instance kinda defeat the purpose of the fediverse tbh

The Lemmy devs are pretty good at keeping their politics out of the codebase and reserved for the running of their own instance, so I personally don't really see a massive reason to abandon the software. If you don't want to deal with .ml it's the same procedure on Mbin as it is on any minor Lemmy instance: just block and move on.

Also if you move to Mbin you'll have to deal with the fact that you must now refer to meme shitposts as "articles" in "magazines".

Neither /kbin nor MBin call(ed) image post an "article" And an unpopular opinion: "magazine" fits more as name for sub than "community". Especially when all content is posted just by one used for own, curiosity, entertainmment or something.

makes more sense when you think of 'magazine' as a thing that contains things - bullets, articles, goods (seen shops round my way called magazin romanesc), etc

the polish language kbin instance was called karab.in (think carbine as in rifle) so magazine makes sense in that context too

The Lemmy devs are pretty good at keeping their politics out of the codebase

For now, we are all human and start to do malevolent shit for politics at any time

Considering we have seen the Tesseract and Piefed gone fell to less honourable ends in a much faster fashion, the Lemmy devs are pretty much modern saints in comparison. They've sorta-deserved the wait-out.

The source code is open and they are highly dependent on funding from users and NLNet. Lemmy's API is easy to replicate, so even if it's not so easy to say "just fork it", it would be pretty straightforward to have other projects implementing compatibility layers.
