The fun part about putting words in dead people's mouths is that they can't go "I didn't say that you fucking asshole, what the fuck?" (thelemmy.club)

I'd respect her death if she had died robbing a gas station, not if she was refueling the planes that bomb hospitals.

Its just about how you feel honestly. I dont think your line of thinking is consistent.

Are people victims of material circumstance or not? Do people get deluded by the environments forced on them by capitalists or not?

It kind of sounds like you expect people to fall into a good vs evil binary and that you couldn't have possibly be a evil-doer because you are innately something. Which in my opinion, is not how a Marxist would think.

Don't get me wrong. Fuck the troops, fuck the wars but if we're talking about building consciousness I don't think your way works and is even counter productive.

I guess the key question is at what point a human stops deserving forgiveness

From an abstract and from a practical point of view

Yeah I agree, but I think my ability to forgive goes past 19 year old dumbdumb who joined the military. My ability to forgive stops at being on your second contract unless you have a good explanation or you did something worthy for repentance.

Some idiot gangbanger indiscriminately shooting up a park is forgivable to me.

I think forgiveness is a virtue and a test of maturity, which we are still responsible for acknowledging.

It is possible, if she didn't die, that she could have realized the error of her ways. If that happened we could have this conversation, because I agree about forgiveness being a virtue. However what actually, materially, happened was a murderous terrorist was killed in an Iranian self defense strike, making the world A slightly better place.
