Maybe they were arguing over something else, and the air fryer was the threat?

Also, they might have a word for it but often marketing pushes the English word for products and so eventually it becomes the common word(s) to use, especially if the native word is not one typically used frequently.

Btw, luftfrityrsteker is the Norwegian word for air fryer.

When I mispronounce that it sounds like luft fritter steaker and makes me hungry to eat steak with vegetable fritters while aloft in a hot-air balloon. You might prefer fries but I'm not a big potato fan.
