(DCSS = Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup)

It started as a goofy suicide performed by Edmund the dumbass who turned my ice beast into a fucking dragon.

And then suddenly the dragon is against ME and Blorkula appears out of nowhere with a wand of charming. Imagine a more epic appearance.

On an unrelated note, now I have two wands.

I’ve never heard of this before but that looks awesome lol I was playing some older text based games like this from the 80s a few weeks back so I’ll add this one to the list

I dunno if it'll disappoint you or not but DCSS isn't really a text-based game. It looks like this:

I just had to consult the log (at the bottom left part of the screenshot) to recreate the turn of events.

It's still a very fun game!

Crawl: Stone Soup is an excellent traditional roguelike. No metagame. Every run is independent (aside from occasionally running into ghosts of past characters, but those have been way toned down in recent versions)

The biggest threat is hubris and inattention. I lose a lot of characters from stubbornly just attacking them instead of actually using resources.
