Genuinely this Labour government is more oppressive than the fucking Tory party. Even calling them centrists at this point would be too charitable given the monstrous right-wing policies they have been carrying out.
Shabana Mahmood is an evil cretin.
They used her specifically to push this through. Muslims here don't support Iran's revolutionary guard. But from a current Labour "public image" it really suits them to have this dumb ass fronting it. Also gives her personal air time. Can you imagine the outrage if she, as a Muslim then said the same about Israel
She also tried to weaponise the fact that she's a woman from an ethnic minority background to deflect criticism from her inhumane far-right immigration policies. Using the "angry white man" trope to attack the left as if it isn't Reform type gammons that make up the vast majority of the angry white man contingent that hate her guts. She is literally pandering to the angry white man who want brown people like her gone from the UK.
She is truly despicable.
