Thats a weird one because he cant even fall back on being poor and that was the only way out (his parents are rich af and he went to a private boarding school as a kid)
Its one thing to be Butler style figure, you entered it apolitically or desperately or were drafted otherwise forced - and then figured out it was evil inside. But it sounds like he knew it ahead of time and still dreamed about being a lil soldier boy regardless
Even if he was from a poorer background, he did 4 tours before joining the for profit death squad. At that point he must have had some money, a pension
He joined purely out of love for imperialism
For me, that really was the sticking point from him and I couldn't understand why so many people fell in line behind him.
He isn't even publicly opposed to Israel, which is an excuse I've seen thrown around online, his brother in law is a J Street goon, the 99% AIPAC
