When people look back on this era the thing that will stand out is just how easily everyone folded.
Also, the other side is true too: plenty of people with morals and intelligence simply don’t want to participate in that circus anymore and have all gone off grid, decentralised, low key. The thing is slomo imploding in front of our eyes because it is no longer held up by those people. And it has to come down to first to provide fertiliser to the soil so a new more ethical power structure can grow in its place.
The media ensures anyone with a backbone does not attain any sort of high office, the people that are left say yes or say nothing, which is no kind of morality at all. No fertiliser is being put down, it is just on to the next wasteland. But now it is seen how easily neo-democracies capitulate and the next iteration of the administration might have intelligence as well as contrived popularity.
