Same thing happens in America. America has this huge problem where almost all sanctioned environmental conservation is funded by hunting clubs, and what they actually finance is creating conditions favorable to hunters - Massive overpopulation of deer and other game animals, alongside strident opposition to anything that would reduce game populations, or that they think would reduce game populations. Re-introducing wolves to reduce deer populations so the deer stop eating all plants down to the ground and ensuring the only plants that survive are well defended invasives? You are literally Satan. Livestock ranchers support this by spreading outright lies about predators and about any conservation they think would impact their ranching practices. They're obsessive a bout the idea that wolves will eat all their livestock (probably so they can blame all forms of livestock losses on predators bc apparently the government pays them for livestock lost to predators) and they pass around bribes and propaganda supporting wolf hunting and what not. They're a huge obstacle towards trying to restore any kind of natural landscape to the blasted post-agricultural hellscape that is the continuous USA. Rounding up all the ranchers in the US and shooting them is a big action item on my to-do list if I ever gain power.
