Well I did sleep but it was poor. For the first time the heat actually woke me up and forced me to turn the air back on. My home is not ready for the extreme heat we are going to get now with climate change and ah fuck, got me worried.

Can you get a ceiling fan? It's been awesome for me and my sleep!

I'd have to hire someone to install it

Regulation, fear or disability? If you don't mind me asking

My house is really old and I don't know how to do it myself. Honestly it'd just be easier to buy a better standing fan

The house being old doesn't matter that much to many modern ceiling lamps. There are 60ish€ models with self-folding (arms? What are the windy sticks called?) and with an integrated LED lamp, the process consists on replacing an existing ceiling lamp by the fan.

That said, if you're already running a standing fan, it won't make you feel cooler, it's just a less invasive form of doing the same.

of course, but i do like windy sticks and i think i'm going to keep that for myself

Replacing an already existing fan is doable with patience but trying to rewire a house and cut a hole in the ceiling might be outside of comfort zone for a non-electrician.

Modern ceiling fans don't require rewiring or hole-cutting. BLDC motors are smaller and lighter, and plastic bodies and plastic (arm thingies please tell me their name) also lighten the weight. You just need to drill a few holes in the ceiling because they're not that much heavier than a normal lamp, I'm talking from experience after installing one a few weeks ago myself, you just use the preexisting wiring because the whole fan pulls less current than the old incandescent light bulbs that the wiring was prepared for.

Huh... I've never seen that style of fan before.

This is what I'm talking about. It's more than sufficient for a small room, comes with the lamp, and it's 45€ on ali. The wind blades look so weird because they're spring-loaded and automatically collapse behind the lamp area when not spinning, kinda neat design if you ask me
