Never really done a deep dive into this, but just going off vibes, I think a lot of them believe in aliens because it feeds into larger conspiracies about the world which are comfortable to believe?
It takes more imagination to perceive societal issues as arising from long-standing systemic forces and class struggle, than blood-drinking space reptiles.
