I don't think explaining that power went out frequently, etc., is using a war to sell the game, a sequel. They're continuing in spite of war, not using it to cash in.
So game devs in countries with famously unstable power infrastructure should also mention that in their marketing? Any game from the Philipines should reiterate how hard it is to be without power for a couple weeks during some rainy seasons? Is it really pertinent to the game when a middle eastern dev works through israeli bombing campaigns? Is it super necessary to mention when a dev in kansas survives a tornado in the middle of development?
I'd rather hear about their actual hardships than your complaints about it.
That is actually identity politics btw. Either the game can fairly compete with the other 300-500 indie games released this month, without a sob story, or it's a shit game that's using a sob story to try to market, which is disgusting.
Enjoy your shit game made by shitty people using a war they're clearly not very connected to to market their game.
