Watch These Judges Rip Into Lawyers For Citing Cases That Don't Exist

"We did it, Patrick! We made a technological breakthrough!"
A place for all those who loathe AI to discuss things, post articles, and ridicule the AI hype. Proud supporter of working people. And proud booer of SXSW 2024.
AI, in this case, refers to LLMs, GPT technology, and anything listed as "AI" meant to increase market valuations.
I want real consequences for this stuff. It's great that they are getting chastized but this stuff needs to result in disbarment or the like. In engineering if you put a PE stamp on something that isn't to standard or if you are found guilty of ethical violations you don't get to keep practicing as a PE. The same standard needs to be applied to other professions. Citing a fake case is a fucking huge ethical violation and malpractice, and needs to be treated as such.
This is just the dressing down part. The formal sanctions come after.
What's really amazing to me is that the city's lawyer didn't catch and call them out. That's also showing a lack of professionalism and ethics because it is clear that they did not read and consider the opposing party's arguments.
