I think the fact the kharma supra exists is proof people have always cared about this?

Kama sutra, and interestingly enough the sex positions part is a very small part of the overall text. It's actually a practical philosophy on living a good life, the nature of love, romance, and finding emotional fulfillment. The way we refer to it today would be like publishing a bible with only Noah's ark in it and saying the original was a book about animal husbandry.

More to the point, that was written ~1300 years prior to the events mentioned in the post and not published in English until 200 years after. While tons of places in the world had really progressive views when it came to women and sexuality, Europe has never been one of them and referencing most of the ideas in the kama sutra during this period would have had you put to death for heresy.
