I would not have understood the meaning. What are the white lines supposed to be? there is a cloth sewed to his face? Is that a thing? And the perspective where the blue is the sea, then they are what, bridges?

I wouldn't even have guessed it was trump tbh.

i think it's pretty readable to be honest. the strait is sewn with metal wire over trump's mouth shutting him up. the word for word translation of the caption is "(it) has narrowed" which has the triple meaning of 1. the strait is closed 2. his big mouth has been shut 3. he's left with no options (the english caption went with this one by translating it as "at the breaking point"). it's also a slight wordplay since the word for strait (تنگه) comes from the noun (تنگ) which means tight or narrow.

It's probably easier for local audiences since they are likely more familiar with maps of their area and can identify the strait of Hormuz easier. Also, Trump has a pretty distinctive look, likely even more so when comparing his odd coloration and blonde hair visible in the sign to their local figures.

The lines are specially over the strait and it looks like the strait has stitched his mouth closed. It seems like his mouth was tied up by the gulfs and the straight was keeping the gag in place.

I'm not suggesting it's the best political cartoon, but it seems at least on par with a lot of what we see here in the states as far as quality/decipherability goes.

I don't think the message is accurate, but it's probably something they want the local populace to think, and it might have that effect at least.
