worse. The minuteman 3 ICBM was meant to be replaced in the early 90s but they keep delaying and they aren't expected to begin replacing them till 2030. They have only tested the engine of the proposed replacement. These are the missiles that would be expected to deliver the larger nuclear warheads and are supposed to keep the world from nuking usa.

90's technology...? So like if I still used cassette tapes to play my music.

Not quite, it was suposed to be obsolete in the 90's. It was brought into service in 1970. So still cassette tape level tech but Pre-Walkman.

I never thought I would get to brag about the fact that I know pre-2000's technology as a person born in the 2000's (a pager is an odd concept for me because by the time I got a phone, and maybe by the time I was born, phones no longer needed pagers).

Would it be like LaserDisc? I have no idea when that became obsolete.

Funny you should say that because parts of the US military still use floppy discs and magnetic tape technology from the cold war.

I think some people in the modern age do not know what floppy disks look like (I do), but what is magnetic tape?

[-] cfgaussian@lemmygrad.ml 5 points 1 month ago

It's what data used to be stored on before hard drives and floppy discs.

Ah, I see. My brain only goes back to cassette tapes and stuff, lol.
