America's fighter jets are not outdated. (And i have to say specifically their fighter jets, because other parts of their air force are very outdated yet unable to be replaced because they are no longer even produced.)
The sentence
Iran literally bombed a US base with a six decade old fighter jet
refers to the age of the Iranian jet that bombed the base, not a US jet being bombed on the base. More specifically it was an old F-5 sold to Iran by the US before the revolution.
This admission shows: a) that the claims that the US had neutralized Iran's entire air force were at best exaggerated, and b) that the air defenses around their bases are very poor.
There is also speculation that the story we were fed at the beginning of the war about US jets being accidentally shot down by Kuwaiti jets (which are also older models that look very similar to the ones Iran is using), may have been a cover to hide the fact that the most modern US jets are being downed by ancient technology.
I misread it :<. It is still pathetic that other parts of their air force are outdated and a US base was bombed by using an old jet.
Yeah, the strength of the American military is being questioned in this war, since I am not sensing them being particularly strong here (honestly, they seem to always pick fights with those they think they can easily overpower quickly).
Lol that would be funny if the Kuwaiti story was a cover-up.
worse. The minuteman 3 ICBM was meant to be replaced in the early 90s but they keep delaying and they aren't expected to begin replacing them till 2030. They have only tested the engine of the proposed replacement. These are the missiles that would be expected to deliver the larger nuclear warheads and are supposed to keep the world from nuking usa.
I never thought I would get to brag about the fact that I know pre-2000's technology as a person born in the 2000's (a pager is an odd concept for me because by the time I got a phone, and maybe by the time I was born, phones no longer needed pagers).
Would it be like LaserDisc? I have no idea when that became obsolete.
I never knew American military aircrafts were so outdated... are the other parts of America's military outdated as well?

90's technology...? So like if I still used cassette tapes to play my music.
Not quite, it was suposed to be obsolete in the 90's. It was brought into service in 1970. So still cassette tape level tech but Pre-Walkman.

Funny you should say that because parts of the US military still use floppy discs and magnetic tape technology from the cold war.
I think some people in the modern age do not know what floppy disks look like (I do), but what is magnetic tape?
It's what data used to be stored on before hard drives and floppy discs.
Ah, I see. My brain only goes back to cassette tapes and stuff, lol.
