If I was writing the movie of this blockade this would be the part where Iran springs a trap.

Iran sends out an empty tanker moving at a speed a full tanker would go. They catch a us navy destroyer's eye and get them to chase, slowly increasing their speed while dropping some sea mines and drones. (there's some low ranking guy in the american ship warning the captain that the tanker is accelerating too fast and this could be a trap but he gets ignored) The americans send out their boarding helicopter and a couple IRGC dudes with MANPADs blow it the fuck out of the sky. The american captain freaks out and orders his men to open fire but its too late, they clip a sea mine. Then cut to the outside and 4 seadoo sized drones smash into the hull and explode in short order.
