(I've been riding a massive high over having a chevy bolt the last month but I know that gas prices will cut into electric eventually anyways)
Nah, EVs are also a problem. You shouldn't listen to the assholes who say they're worse than ICE vehicles overall, but manufacturing a car is a dirty process, and EVs are to my knowledge much worse on that front. There's a reason we say "the cleanest car is the one you already have"; it may not be universally true but it's close enough to be used as a rule of thumb. We still need them in much of the world but we really, really need to make changing that a top priority.
Tire particle pollution and brake dust are problems regardless of powertrain. Worse, even, for EVs, due to their weight.
Also the environmental damage from paving roads in general.
Remember during :corona: everybody stopped driving and suddenly the skies above cities became clear? :sicko-wistful:
Yeah that's all true but I was just talking about happy I was not to be paying $6/gallon
Totally fair!
i'm an EV centrist but they do share a variety of shortcomings with ICE vehicles and aren't a societal level solution.
yeah, car infrastructure and societal design around cars is just awful. Wouldn't be good even if you were using a Flintstones car
