Daggerfall is the prequel to Skyrim. I'd never played it until seeing it for free on Steam recently.

A prequel is released after but set before the previous instalment, it’s not the opposite of sequel.

Glad I'm not the only one bothered by that usage. I believe a more accurate word to replace it would be predecessor
