ok sure lots of people would suffer and die but driving what's left of the oil market deeper into the crater to the benefit of absolutely nobody would be pretty funny

sure, I agree in the abstract, but in practice, blowing up Kharg Island would be an unprecedented ecological disaster, as well as guaranteeing the strait of Hormuz can't be reopened any time over the next however long it'd take to clean up.
Unfortunately, the global economy is extremely dependent on the use of oil for shipping, including for food, medicines and the machinery required to make a modern life livable, so like I said, lots of people would suffer and die for no good reason if this were to actually happen. So yeah, it probably will, given this timeline.
