Why does one of the realistic ducklings have eyes on the side of its head while the other two have them in the front?
My guess is for artistic effect. Not portraying the eye right there would have looked odd, visually. Like a head without features.
I actually kind of like that decision, as the final effect matters more than strict reality.
Sure, I get that, but the incongruity takes me right out.
Oh well.
