And every year, they say "meh, they used to be better." You can just wait a day and watch a top ten Superbowl commercials 2026 YouTube video while eating wings. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] hypnicjerk@lemmy.world 4 points 6 months ago when i was like 14, i found that kind of fun. the idea of willingly watching advertisements now nauseates me to my core. permalink fedilink source parent [–] Eyekaytee@aussie.zone 9 points 6 months ago (1 child) you are a strange country permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] CIA_chatbot@lemmy.world 5 points 6 months ago There’s 300 million+ people in the US. While Football is extremely popular, and having a Super Bowl watching party is almost a holiday style event, not every one appreciates the sport. As the day became more holiday like, they added a show at half-time which usually is a mega-music production in and of itself that many people want to watch. Capitalism being capitalism, commercial spots during that time are expensive and in high demand, so companies started making hilarious commercials because of the extreme amount of viewers during that time. What this ends up being is kind of a day that has something for everyone, music, sports, comedy, companionship etc. It’s weird if you just look at from top down view but in context and with a little history it’s actually a pretty nice not holiday permalink fedilink source parent [–] BigDiction@lemmy.world 1 point 6 months ago (1 child) Sorry we send all the bad matchups to Europe every year. If that was my primary way to watch American Football I would think the sport sucked too. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] ohulancutash@feddit.uk 2 points 6 months ago (1 child) So it isnt usually 20 seconds of play followed by ten minutes of elderly men with clipboards shouting at each other? permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] DaMummy@hilariouschaos.com 1 point 6 months ago Hey, ummm, isn't Football Manager like the top selling game there?
