Literally Jesus Christ Himself- permalink fedilink source hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] explodicle@sh.itjust.works 21 points 6 months ago (6 children) That's my favorite Bible story because it humanizes Jesus so much to just once flip out and whoop some ass. He wasn't divinely chill all the time; he usually restrained himself. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 12 child comments replies: [–] tigeruppercut@lemmy.zip 14 points 6 months ago (2 children) favorite Bible story I like the one where the druid Elisha summoned bears to murder children because they mocked his bald head. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 4 child comments replies: [–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 6 months ago Yahweh is a just god, after all permalink fedilink source parent [–] ShaggySnacks@lemmy.myserv.one 2 points 6 months ago Obligatory shout out to the Apocalypse Players, "A Christmas Inheritance". He killed the neighbour kid and returned to his plants. permalink fedilink source parent [–] markovs_gun@lemmy.world 6 points 6 months ago (2 children) Jesus comes across as kind of mean to his disciples at times. It's less obvious in some of the other gospels, but in Mark, which is a lot shorter and contains a lot fewer sermons, the dialogue with the disciples really stands out and Jesus often admonishes them for pretty understandable things. Jesus isn't really portrayed by the gospels as being "divinely chill" so much as having infinite wisdom and little patience for people who are wrong. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 4 child comments replies: [–] prettybunnys@piefed.social 2 points 6 months ago I like to imagine Jesus as a Saw Gerrera type. It makes it more fun. Just as plausible that he could pilot an xwing too permalink fedilink source parent [–] CXORA@aussie.zone 2 points 6 months ago Mark is also (believed to be) the earliest gospel, so the ways it varies from the others is pretty interesting. Particularly against John which is the (relatively) newest. permalink fedilink source parent [–] saimen@feddit.org 5 points 6 months ago (1 child) Doesn't it also literally say he flipped some tables? permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] explodicle@sh.itjust.works 4 points 6 months ago (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻ permalink fedilink source parent [–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 6 months ago* I like that he weaved the whip together himself... I just picture him calmly sitting there, literally making a whip, while people are all like, "What the fuck are you doing, Jesus??" and, saying nothing, he just quietly continues... Until the whip is complete and it's time to kick some money-changer ass. permalink fedilink source parent
